THE PAVESE MANUSCRIPTS

LS_APIII.I_1r-redux

The manuscripts of Cesare Pavese held at the Gozzano-Pavese Interuniversity Study Center come from two main sources: the Einaudi publishing house and the Sini-Cossa family. The convergence of these two major Pavese archives has made it possible to centralize and preserve this literary heritage for the benefit of scholars and readers alike.

The Center—currently directed by Laura Nay and housed in a suitable and welcoming location—has also overseen, over the years, the digitization of Pavese’s papers in low-resolution format, freely accessible (upon simple registration) through the Hyperpavese website.

Today, PAVES-e offers users access to the entire collection in high resolution, a format essential for in-depth philological analysis of the manuscripts. At the same time, general readers can enjoy an intimate glimpse into Pavese’s creative workshop—witnessing the very first strike of the hammer on the monolith of his work.
